So you know how I just posted about being married? I just so happened to post that the day before our one month anniversary. I say that because you'll notice that I did my post Up themed because it's us and adorable and yadda yadda yadda.<br />
<br />
So I came home from work yesterday on our one month being married anniversary. I was exhausted from work and so was he. As we sat on the couch in our 15-20 min zone out when we get home I mentioned that it was our one month anniversary. Paul just turned to me and said, "Yes. It is our one month anniversary. Do you know what that means? We're in the married club. Yup. The one month married mark means you get to be in a club. And do you know what you need to be in a club?" I shook my head--having no idea where he was going with this (especially with his sneaky look in his eye and his "proud of himself smile" on his face). He then reached into his work shirt pocket and said, "You need a pin to be in a club. A very special unique marriage club pin."<br />
<br />
He then pulled out two of these:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX_TgXWlWX-OnOpfTy-KuVpCe0oH6xoUbmH6i6aA211ktqdsnIhcrP_Y9K4oQMLClKnOI2rHq4p-J3pPqU4AO3Uq0wkkgLxF0iJQpU4zzvwqzucH3Ln1e_O8aGMOaBT1N6daboGH-JJq3a/s1600/grape+soda+pin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX_TgXWlWX-OnOpfTy-KuVpCe0oH6xoUbmH6i6aA211ktqdsnIhcrP_Y9K4oQMLClKnOI2rHq4p-J3pPqU4AO3Uq0wkkgLxF0iJQpU4zzvwqzucH3Ln1e_O8aGMOaBT1N6daboGH-JJq3a/s1600/grape+soda+pin.jpg" /></a></div>
Yup. We both now have our own married pins cause we're in the married club.<br />
<br />
Can you see what I mean when I say we're perfect for each other? :D<br />
<br />
We then went to the grocery store to get food (very romantic haha), but the entire time we wore our pins so that people would know that we are official members of the married for more than a month club.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
:D </div>

So... this happened: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwPc5eTITZd2s_xxMOEt_3DoSOxOXg2TLQKudMR_nsADX6CaDRKC3I5J1I1mpU3Pt3uvK70dx1lrkeo5nE-Vi7-vfdMhfcAKSJnkvSkqYciCFmUDI0RDGAaOWTIz7GErNQ_tCQtqjk-jT7/s1600/ellie+up2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwPc5eTITZd2s_xxMOEt_3DoSOxOXg2TLQKudMR_nsADX6CaDRKC3I5J1I1mpU3Pt3uvK70dx1lrkeo5nE-Vi7-vfdMhfcAKSJnkvSkqYciCFmUDI0RDGAaOWTIz7GErNQ_tCQtqjk-jT7/s320/ellie+up2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And now this happens everyday: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
It really is the best thing ever and I feel so blessed and am so unbelievably happy! :D </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I wish you all the best, and I hope that every one out there can find the Carl to their Ellie :)</div>

Today is technically the halfway point of my mission. 9 months in. <div><br /></div><div>What did I do today instead of being in Brazil? I went to my favorite city of all time: San Francisco! Which happens to only be about 2 hours from where I currently live. It's amazing! Today was just such a good day that I feel I must blog about it. We drove down and stopped right before the Golden Gate Bridge. It was sunny, 75 degrees, and no one was there! We found a quick parking spot right in front, got out, and I got to go and use my fun camera for the first time since I came back. Then I drove over the bridge!!! (which I have never done before..) and we also went to drive down Lombard street. It was awesome. San Fran was practically empty today. We found an entire empty parking street one block from the piers and paid about 5 bucks to park for 2.5 hours (amazing). We ate a seafood lunch and walked along the piers while I got to take more fun pictures and photo stalk my friend and her boy friend. I guess the boy friend doesn't technically like taking pictures, but.... once he saw how cool they turned out he even got to posing for me. SO FUN! I LOVE taking pictures! I haven't done it in so long that I must have forgotten. We then went to the Palace of Fine Arts and took more pictures (the closest parking spot was open and free), we then drove around to see Chinatown/more of the city, and then we went to Ghiradelli square to have the traditional ice cream sundaes (which are AMAZING.) (Yes, we also found parking for free right in front). </div><div><br /></div><div>Basically, today was one of the most magically San Francisco days of all time. It was sunny, warm, and no one was there. I guess that makes sense for a wednesday in November, but whatever. I'm not complaining! It was just.. perfect. (Rivaling with Scotland perfect. Almost there..) </div><div><br /></div><div>I hope that you all had a great day as well :) </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-6341494721084346232011-11-01T23:46:00.000-07:002011-11-02T00:00:23.475-07:00it's still warm here!!!!You read that right. It is November 1st and it is still warm here in sunny California where I now live. I always thought that California was overrated.. That people were just crazy to want to live there. Now that I have graced the northern part I know that they are not crazy, they are the smartest people. EVER. As you know (probably), I am back from my mission to Brazil and now jumping back into life (which I am LOVING btw..) Here's the thing though. I left in Feb and stayed in Utah until late March. Aka. I lived a winter here. It was cold. THEN I went to Brazil in April in time for their fall (remember the other hemisphere temperature change?) and I lived through being really REALLY cold in southern Brazil with no heater. (and no insulation in the walls. aka. sleeping in the same temperature that is outside with cold showers. BRRRRRR). And now that I am back up north, we are just heading into what again? That's right. WINTER. AGAIN. My THIRD winter in 1 freaking year. yeah. I wasn't too stoked about the idea of bumming it in dreary (yet beautiful) Seattle for my 3rd winter, so when the opportunity came up I abandoned ship and went to move in with my dear friend from school :).<br /><br /><b>Why northern Cali is better.. I mean, cool too</b>:<br />1. It is about an hour and a half away from everything. San Fran (<-- favorite city), Beach, Tahoe, Yosemite? Yup. All close.<br />2. It is November and still t-shirt weather.<br />3. Driving here is a lot "quicker"<br />4. I'm close to extended relatives that I didn't really know but now have met and they are awesome!<br />5. I am living 'on my own.'<br />6. Did I mention that my boyfriend is only an hour and twenty mins from me too? Bonus. Much better than 7k miles.<br />7. There are both palm trees and evergreens. It's lovely :)<br />8. I live right next to a beautiful lake AND a river.<br /><div>9. I moved here on a Sunday, had an interview on a Tuesday, was hired the same day for a better position than I wanted for more pay and a clothing allowance, and oh yeah, I started the next day. Miracle/awesomeness. </div><div>10. Happiness. Just a lot of happiness :D </div><div><br /></div><div>So yeah.. I went, I came back, and I went off again. But that's what my life is always about right? Lots and LOTS of adventures :)</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-47411275642316977012010-12-13T22:11:00.001-08:002010-12-17T13:44:23.603-08:00'ello againTeaching is fun. Teaching is intimidating. Teaching is awesome. Teaching is difficult. Teaching teaches me. All of the afore mentioned statements have become quite true for me in the last few months. I had the opportunity to work at my old high school and help teach and direct in their theater program! Point Sam! I had many days that I would come home almost literally skipping with excitement and bursting to tell my friends and family how much fun it was to work with the kids. "So and so really did a great job with their acting and made huge strides today! Another person really listened and came up with fantastic ideas! I learned so much today and am so glad that I'm teaching theater!" Other days I would come home thinking twice about the whole teaching concept... "There were so many of them! No one was listening! No one was respecting me as their teacher! Stop cutting rehearsal to make-out with someone in the hallway!!!"<div> <div><br /></div><div>Recently we started doing a musical that requires the use of two British accents and I have taken it upon myself to become the accent coach. Yes, this decision has in fact infiltrated my life for the better! Now, while I work at my other job that actually pays me money, I am constantly singing and dancing along to the incessantly contagious Christmas songs while intermittently trying to speak in as many different accents as possible. The staples as of right now include British (With the T) and Bri'ish (Without it). However, do not be alarmed! I am still throwing in a good New Jersey, Southern, and Irish and am working on Indian and Russian (aided by my co-workers). </div><div><br /></div><div>Other life. I am going to be a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! I was assigned to the Brazil, Florianopolis mission and I leave February 2nd! The actuality of me going to Brazil in any near future is pretty low seeing as visas are not coming through, but hey--I'm going on a mission and I literally do not care where it takes me. :) </div><div><br /></div><div>To sum up, life has been happening for the past 6 months since I posted. Surprise! I didn't die, I am happily working and dating and preparing for the mish... It's kind of strange to think that in the next 6 months I will be out somewhere in the world wearing the black name tag and changing my life and hopefully others as well :). </div><div><br /></div><div>Happy Holidays all! </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">(but most realistically just the one </span><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;">you</span></b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:small;"> who is reading this. Yeah I'm talking to you. You know who you are.. :D ) </span></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-58707722661495624522010-06-24T14:04:00.000-07:002010-06-24T14:10:15.230-07:00sounds like me..Just a quick pet peeve to spring on the world wide web. Lately I have been reading a lot of things for marketing and also just things that friends post on various websites. My pet peeve is this: If you write something, I want to be able to hear you saying it in my head. For some reason, there are a few people that I know that write things and it sounds absolutely nothing like them! Their excitement comes off as petty and their usual sarcastic wit is dimmed by cliches. Please oh please let whoever reads this (if they know me) think to themselves, "Wow. That sounds just like Sam! She could have just sat across the table and read it to me, and I 100% would have known that it was her." <div><br /></div><div>Basically. Please just be yourself! I don't want to go read something you post in order to catch up or continue a friendship and feel like I am reading about someone completely different! Bah! </div><div><br /></div><div>Ok. Rant finished. </div><div><br /></div><div>HAGS. :D</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-12628783548274663042010-04-08T17:52:00.001-07:002010-04-08T18:02:01.704-07:00it was easter so i egged some people...Easter Bunny. Yup. I was the Easter Bunny driving around in my rental car on a cloudy Sunday afternoon. The malicious deed hinted at by the title of this blog? Actually the nicest thing EVER! My friend and I were driving around delivering plastic easter eggs filled with candy to friends we knew and then we had some leftovers. We originally had planned to leave those eggs in a park or somewhere strange so that people could find them and have a good day... I wrote phrases on them like "Congrats! You found me!" "Hey Stranger! You can have what's inside me!" or "PUT ME BACK! I'M COLD" After leaving a couple of those eggs strewn around the south of campus, I had a brilliant idea. Here I was, warm in my car, and there outside of my car were random people were walking on the street with their friends without candy/chocolate. I decided to solve the problem. With the help of my friend, we drove around, pulled up next to groups of friendly looking people and asked them if they wanted an Easter Egg! Every group we drove up to took it and looked a lot more happy than they had before we 'bothered' them, so I deem this mission of making everyone have an AWESOME Easter a success. Plus one for everyone involved? Yeah. More like PLUS TEN! <div><br /></div><div>Watch out. Mother's Day is coming up, and I want to get creative.... :) </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-6697518747989527512010-01-01T22:14:00.000-08:002010-01-03T00:48:43.731-08:00a funny thing happened on the way from the space needle.In reading some of my past posts while reflecting on years past, I realize that when bad things happen or I am stressed out, I am usually prone to laughter. Is that strange? Now, when I say bad things, I don't mean sad things, I just mean things that could possibly also be described as "unlucky" or "unfortunate." I guess I just realize that things in life happen, for better or for worse, and whether it is partially your fault or not, life happens, you can't change it, and sometimes the irony that unfolds is just plain hilarious. End Tangent. <div><br /></div><div>Last night was New Years Eve, and a friend and I went to a dance downtown to celebrate. It was probably one of the most unemotional and unexciting turn of the decades that I've lived through. We danced, we had some good sliced apples, we danced more to a lot of music that I didn't know, and then at 6 minutes to, we got in line at the coat check to get our things so that we could run outside and watch the huge fireworks display. Fate was not with us that night because we got to the front of the line when someone said, "10 SECONDS!!!!!!!!" So, we counted down into the new year/decade right when we were given our coats and we tried to get them off the hangers so we could get outside. We ran outside and saw the fireworks going off.. We watched for a few minutes, then we decided to head back to our car to leave before the whole crowd of drunk drivers joined us on the road. We ran back to our car through the damp streets and missed the rest of the show. We drove back, and I had my friend text a couple of my friends to wish them a Happy New Year! (because I was driving). She, however, unaccustomed to my phone, sent one accidentally saying something that could have been taken quite horribly by the receiver. Happy Start of the New Year and Decade! It was one of those moments that there was nothing that I could do but laugh. Trying to explain what had happened? Futile. I felt like a horrible person, but at the same time, it was just so ironic and so accidental, that it was like a 'meant to be' mistake. If you (you know who you are, or your friend) are reading this, it was purely an accident... I promise that I am not a horrible person, I was just trying to be friendly and-- it kind of backfired. </div><div><br /></div><div>After that lovely moment within the new decade and the very lame welcome of the new year, I made a decision to make the night more memorable for good things. I drove past my friend's house and we went to her old school and we cranked up "You Make My Dreams" and had a dance off in the parking lot (don't worry. there is a video). We also took some pictures, and sang loudly to songs in the car. Now THAT is the way to welcome in the new year! :D </div><div><br /></div><div>To sum up, life is hilarious. You have to make the fun for yourself, and when life happens, you just have to roll with it because, let's be honest; we don't all have time turners like Hermione. It's up to us to decide the attitude with which to live. I choose happiness. :D </div><div>Welcome 2010. </div><div style="text-align: center;">It's going to be a party. I can tell. </div><div><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-91261851093589167302009-11-30T01:02:00.000-08:002009-11-30T01:15:56.560-08:00finding joy in the small thingsThis past week-being Thanksgiving- was a breath of fresh air that I greatly needed in order to survive the next couple of weeks before school started. I was a little put out that I was left in my house alone from Tuesday night till now and not flown home to the family (I haven't been home for Thanksgiving since I was in high school and this was the first year it <span style="font-style: italic;">might</span> have happened), but I combined forces with 4 friends and we conquered our own Thanksgiving feast. It was magnificent! Turkey, stuffing, corn, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, salad, home made rolls, 2 home made pumpkin pies, delicious drinks, and I'm sure I'm missing something else. Basically, it was epic. We had movies playing in the background--most notably the extended version of the Fellowship of the Ring, we played games, we had a good time.<br /><br />More than just Thanksgiving though was the relaxing time that I got to spend with friends and with a cleaning sponge in my house to make it shine as it hasn't for quite some time. I got to go to a football game against our rivals, and we had great seats, AND we won.. AND I got to meet up with a friend who was driving through the area back to his college for the rest of the semester.<br /><br />These things were fun, and I'm glad that I got to meet and hang out with a variety of individuals.<br /><br />But I did somethings that I loved more than all these things combined: I painted while watching a movie, and even better? I played with PLAY DOUGH! YES! My slow regression back to my childhood is finally happening!<br /><br />Oh yes--Christmas lights now adorn our downstairs. This is also a huge bonus. Should we buy a mini Christmas tree?<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">I think YES.<br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br />Hope that your holidays were and will be a party as well! And oh yes, please please please send me any leftover play dough and finger paints that you might have around. They will be VERY much appreciated!!! <br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;">Happy Everything!<br /></div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-4849965388685031852009-11-03T13:54:00.000-08:002009-11-03T20:35:15.091-08:00and now, for something completely different!My life is average. I have absolutely no problem with that. Mostly because I have found this amazing website to back me up in my harry potter loving, dinosaur and old people appreciating ways. The irony of this website is that most of the posts, while deemed average by the users, are anything but! Does that make my life under average? Do I really care? Nope! I just love that there are other people like me that appreciate the small things in life and I only wish that I was as cool as some of the kids, teachers, and old people that are on this site. I guess that I can give you a couple of examples:<br /><span style="font-size:100%;"><br /></span><h3 style="font-weight: normal; text-align: center;font-family:georgia;" class="UIIntentionalStory_Message" ft="{"type":"msg"}"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span class="UIStory_Message">Today, I was late for school, so I had to sign in at the office. With <span style="font-weight: bold;">you</span>.<br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Run away with me</span>.<br />Let me be your ride out of town, let me be the place that you hide, we could make our lives on the go, run away with me. Sam you're ready, let's go.. Anywhere. Get the car packed an throw me the key--run away with me.<br />Sam, I know it's fast, but I'm in love with you. Sam it's crazy, but Sam, I'm crazier for you...<br />Sam, you're ready, let's go, <span style="font-style: italic;">anywhere</span><br />Say the word, and I'm already there.<br />Run away with me.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">I found this song. Needless to say, I love it. It's official. The romantic inside of me has been found and is captured in these lines. If you care to read mushy sentiments, please, by all means, read on.<br />I don't want perfection, I really don't. I'm not perfect, and I won't ever <span style="font-style: italic;">be</span> perfect, so how could I expect that from someone else? There are some things that I do know though. There are some things that I think should be mutual in every interaction between anyone I care about and vice versa: Believe in me. I don't have problems believing in others because I know that anyone can achieve anything they set their minds to, I just sometimes forget it for myself. Mean what you say. I love in this song how he will go <span style="font-style: italic;">anywhere</span> for her at a drop of a hat. My first instinct when I hear that is that it will somehow fall through. Great ideas come from all over from all people, but it is rare that people follow through with big plans. If you say something to me, mean it, act on it, and I will follow and do the same for you. Be there for me. There are a few people in this world that I will drop everything in my life for if they needed me. And, as strong and as independent as I claim to be, I sometimes will need the same from you (even if it will take me ages to admit it). Be thoughtful. This is one of the most defining characteristics that I admire. I love thinking of things to do for others, and small gestures of thoughtfulness are what make me smile. Be you. I know that everyone is a little different around different people, but just be you. I love listening to and watching people talk about what they really love, no matter what it is (except perhaps Biology. I mean, I have to draw the line somewhere.. haha, but really....).<br /><br />Well, that was a lot of information about me... haha<><awkward>. But hey, that's it! That is what I think is important to bring to any type of friendship. I feel like I'm asking a lot here, but then again, that's what I will do for you, so why wouldn't I want the same from others? Seems plausible, right? I guess there is only one more question on the table here:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"> Run away with me? :D<br /></div></awkward></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-77903065873079628642009-07-16T21:44:00.000-07:002009-07-16T22:07:42.116-07:00people are just people.Lately I have been watching and hearing about a lot of famous people and the reactions that they get from the general public. It bothers me a lot when famous people are treated like they are on some level that is 'so much higher than us poor common folk.' Yes, they do live more high profile lives, but in the end, they are just people with normal friends and desires just like us. It is one of my pet peeves when people idolize others (especially when it is just for their looks alone). I think it is perfectly reasonable to admire someone because of their talent, but in no means does that make them a 'better person' than you. The way girls scream for the newest 'hot boy' in a crowd and others cry even at just the thought of speaking to someone is completely absurd to me. Congratulations. Someone is attractive! Good for them! They have good genes! It has nothing to do with anything that they had control over. It is the people who have a talent and actually chase it and work for it that I think deserve some kind of a spotlight, not those just born into it. I guess that would be my version of promoting 'the american dream' or something... I do believe that anyone has the chance to do something that they love as long as they are willing to pay the dues and really work for it, and it is these people to be looked up to. Those with a passion for what they do, for their own life. I hope that one day I will be able to get what I want the most: To be happy with my life and the choices I've made to get wherever I may go.<br /><br />In the end, people are just people. You love some, hate others, and hope that you'll turn out alright in the end.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-70402836926965172752009-06-27T10:27:00.000-07:002009-06-27T11:10:30.894-07:00seattle rocks my life.Why Seattle is one of my most favorite places ever:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjIJ9KGam37ZXKi67KbkSQzZ9IXi9OpFWOQT9DxCTx8KC1G5TT65DkbbT5nLaYKKtze0lHwOUqbuQp0kyD0LzQdaIQ6-y-pvX6iwXPhI_G0rvugnFrr6QXjFEN0rcdaIiCp83xdYPjuuVB/s1600-h/IMG_1472.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjIJ9KGam37ZXKi67KbkSQzZ9IXi9OpFWOQT9DxCTx8KC1G5TT65DkbbT5nLaYKKtze0lHwOUqbuQp0kyD0LzQdaIQ6-y-pvX6iwXPhI_G0rvugnFrr6QXjFEN0rcdaIiCp83xdYPjuuVB/s400/IMG_1472.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352070177453641538" border="0" /></a><br />1. A work of art is a confession.</span> "-Camus<br /><div style="text-align: left;">I most definitely kind of fell in love with it. While alone at home one night, one night being last night, I decided to take advantage and paint something.. a confession of sorts... This is what happened:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgstXmmRwarpDvy2Gy_t1u1pRKyv8U6VW2k-NdSf-KoXrC7eqnwloXjEgPGM4WqGM2VSyETidNdRWp8_saY5tcrp7kpMJam_M9FiFx_K59QLtVE2FCW3JmJRWxq62za2H7VTU75m14Z5tn9/s1600-h/4668_1063982491561_1585950096_30196293_429186_n.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgstXmmRwarpDvy2Gy_t1u1pRKyv8U6VW2k-NdSf-KoXrC7eqnwloXjEgPGM4WqGM2VSyETidNdRWp8_saY5tcrp7kpMJam_M9FiFx_K59QLtVE2FCW3JmJRWxq62za2H7VTU75m14Z5tn9/s320/4668_1063982491561_1585950096_30196293_429186_n.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346984858758651362" border="0" /></a>It is a mixture of acrylic, finger paints, tape, sharpie, a yellow paint pen, and tin foil. The whole thing only took me about an hour and a half, or a little bit less, but it was great! I guess the confession from this one is kind of obvious... "Should." I know, it's a bit cliche, but I don't really mind. I seem to wait around always thinking about what I 'should' do and what I 'shouldn't.' It is seldom that I take the initiative to do things in my life. I live in my home, and don't venture out much. I have had excuses, and found other things to do with my time, but I always 'should' have and could have been doing something else. After I finished the painting and was looking at it from far away, I noticed that four of the letters stand out more than the others (unintentionally). From far away, the word 'soul' stands out from the others. I guess I subconsciously was saying something there. Do with it as you will.. It means something to me, and maybe it will mean something to you too...<br /><br />Oh dear. Now I sound all 'artsy' and 'deep.' I don't consider myself an 'artist,' or a 'scholar' by any means... just to make that clear... I just enjoy seeing things that make me think, and I like talking about them. Life would be so boring if everything was merely taken at face value, even if it was made for just that reason alone. But that is the beautiful thing about life isn't it? An artist can make something for one specific reason, and the viewer can take it and see what they want or need to see even if it is not the same, and both are correct. 'Molding the world to your own view' should be a job title, because I want it! Then again, everyone does it anyways.. especially those randomly pesky modern artists (some which are brilliant, and others, simply still striving for it.. haha).<br /><br />After all of this rambling, I thought it would be poignant to quote Camus yet again. Mr "Existentialism" said the following:<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="body"><br />"Abstract Art: A product of the untalented, sold by the unprincipled to the utterly bewildered."<br /></span><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="body"><br />This one made me laugh. If life is a struggle and art is its confession, how else would one display it but in abstract measures?<br /><br />Oh life and people. So contradictory. So utterly hilarious. Thanks for that. :)<br /></span><span class="body"></span></div> </div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-38374642733723560332009-06-08T00:19:00.000-07:002009-06-08T00:32:57.494-07:00in a perfect world, a miracle would happen...That would be the main line of the song I have chosen for my papers. As some of you (the ambiguous few who read my blog) might know, when I have a bit of writing to do, which oh dear, do I right now, I listen to one song over and over again (so far at 38 times repeated) because I need the music, but if it changes then I go all ADD and don't focus. Oh wait, I do that anyway, but at least I have a little bit of consistency going for me. <br /><br />I have been quite busy and also quite not busy for the past couple of months. Today however, the address for my blog rings true as I once again perfect my art of procrastination when huge deadlines dangle in the very foreseeable future. <br /><br />Most recently, I have been contemplating art and the different forms that I'm a huge fan of. I went to our school's Museum of Art and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a lot of the big prints of the I Spy pictures. I could have been entranced in one place for hours, but sadly I had to leave. I most definitely want some huge pictures like that for my kid's room(s). That way, they will never have to leave their room! Depending on the day I could tell them that they have to find things that are either present in the picture or things that are not, depending on how long I want them to sit and stare quietly at the picture. It's kind of like torture, but it's happy!! (wow. I'll make a great mom. hurrah) There were also a lot of modern art things. My favorite included an huge balloon animal sculpture and the various ways that he used garbage bags. Creative and cool looking (which is the only way that I like modern art). <br />I also recently saw the movie UP, which I loved. Whoever said kid's movies are just for kids? LIES! <br /><br />More things, I am directing my final project for my directing class, and it is all about how our imagination grows up with us, and it doesn't just belong in our childhood. Basically, I am now realizing that everything in my life has something to do with imagination and how creative one can be. Hopefully as I age my imagination will only get better and not worse. <br /><br />Wow. That sure was one long random rant of facts that somehow related. Point Sam! <br /><br />Hope you have imaginative days!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-816583569904336382009-04-21T23:02:00.000-07:002009-04-21T23:10:27.689-07:00almost free::It has been a trying last semester.. with all 10 credits and such. It's not like I haven't had much to do, it's just, well, not as interesting as taking more classes might have been. After tomorrow, I will finally have taken my last final (I have to, it's the last day...)and then I will pack up my beloved first apartment, move an entire block away, and go on a trip to Saint George! So excited! <br /><br />I guess I'm in a list making mood, so here goes nothing:<br /><br /><br />1. I don't have anything to make a list about. Dang it. <br /><br /><br /><br />Soooooo... That was pointless. <...awkward silence...on the internet...><br /><br />Anyways, once my life actually gets interesting, or I run by something in my daily life that inspires my soul, or just my angsty ways, (of which I have very few), I will try to post something, or generally become more interesting.<br /><br />I guess life is just a little different not being in London... surprise surprise.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-4145954520965174302009-03-16T21:29:00.000-07:002009-03-16T21:51:44.784-07:00i am unwritten..Well, actually, I'm not.. I just wasn't really sure what to title my blog post for the moment. <br />Lately I have discovered the fact that I own quite a lot of black.. I think it is from my summer job days, and hey, it's useful to be able to pull an 'emo' every once in a while when I have to be backstage for Macbeth.. That's right! I'm a dresser for our school's showing of Macbeth! It is fantastic! <br />How I know that being in Theater in some respect is right for me:<br />1. I started playing Les Miserables on the piano, and everyone started singing along and telling stories of when they were either in it, or saw it last..<br />2. Everyone is hilarious from years of improv training. <br />3. Me being a little 'over the top' with giving a people a hard time and being sarcastic is not only not looked down upon, but is expected.<br />4. Singing along to any music heard is a must and everyone is fantastic at it.<br />5. Guys start talking in random accents, and when I join in, they aren't weirded out... they think it's funny. <br />6. I can debate the pros and cons of some musicals/actors/scenes and not feel overbearing<br />7. Everyone is genuinely nice and the whole experience, while sometimes just hours of tediously sitting, moves quickly.<br />8. As recently discovered, if you are good at anything, you can find a home in theater.. because it is real life imposed on a little stage! :D<br /><br />The only thing that I miss so far is writing papers.. and analyzing things... and having discussions on the sociological and meta-fictional level... <br /><br />Oh wait.. could I ever do that with anyone besides myself before anyways? <br /><br /><br />(the answer here is NO people.. come on). <br /><br /><br />If anyone out there is reading this and thinking, "Wow, I sure wouldn't mind talking to Sam about these things" don't hesitate to tell me.. cause I could use a friend for these odd and exceedingly awesome convos.. Anything. Really. <br /><br />---Let's Be Friends--- :DUnknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-26690219598274755402009-02-28T21:49:00.000-08:002009-02-28T22:07:37.321-08:00you trifilin, you need yo' own car! fo sho!90s music has infiltrated my life for the better. Immediately. <br /><br />"You triflin', good for nothing kinda brother"<br />"I want a baller"(with hand shooting swoosh motion)<br />"You're a buggin what? You're buggin who? You're buggin me, and don't you see it ain't coo"<br />"I am not the one to sit around and be played" (shakes my finger and head like i know what's up, cause i do)<br />"You actin kinda shady"<br />"How would you like it if I came over with my clique?" This one I think might be a stretch for me to use.. but it's gonna happen someday. foo. <br /><br /><br />Now I know some of you people out there might think I can't do this. My newly acquired job phone voice. Seriously. If you want to be talked to sleep or calmed down after something horrific occurs, please, just give me a call and request the student services voice. Just thinking about it makes ME sleepy.. <br />2. Hanging out with friends and doing silly things.<br />3. Going to the bridal fair with Brooklyn and pretending that she was engaged. We got lots of free food and entered to win lots of prizes! <br />4. Warm clothes on cold days, like today. <br />5. Getting packages in the mail.. they make my world go round. <br />6. Making, well, eating delicious things that other people make. <br />7. Listening to heart warming music. <br />8. A lovely trip to the planetarium where we got to look at the stars.. too bad the sun just wouldn't go down. heh. that would dispute David Hume's theories. ha ha ha<br />9. Doing well in classes..and writing papers for them :). <br /><br />Basically, I'm feeling happy right now. mmmmhmmmm it's nice.. :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-15649623913247515382009-01-25T21:17:00.001-08:002009-01-25T21:17:47.183-08:00FACT. fish CAN be cooked in the dishwasher.It's a true statement. Ok. Maybe I just decided to do that for the title alone... you decide.. <br /><br />I have been in my apartment now for about 2 weeks now, and I love it! Three girls to an entire apartment compared to 14 girls in one room is heavenly.. (I mean.. I do miss the London girls.. but now I have a kitchen, and 2 couches! and that my friends, sends this place way over the top). The only problem is, when I open my door, it's not Palace Court... and when I walk through Narnia, it goes to campus and not to Hyde Park. Don't worry though, I'm betting that these glitches will be fixed soon enough. :)<br /><br />I now have class at the glorious hour of 8am every day (oh yeah. spanish.) which is the time of day that I get woken up quite quickly in the balmy 9 degree weather. Other than that though, I only have 2 other classes, both of which I love dearly. (I'm definitely happy not having any english or humanities classes, so I'm thinkin' that was a good choice to change my major..) Then, as of yesterday, I have a job every day from 2-5, also something that I'm quite happy about :). (I now have so much power, it's disgusting..)<br /><br />Cooking for myself is a joy, especially because I can "cook" sandwiches and wraps like none other.. I'm also great at making mac and cheese and varying soups from a can. I can also pour orange juice into a glass and drink it with grace that should be rewarded with a trophy, money, or just praise and adoration. :)<br /><br />Cleaning is also something that I have learned that I enjoy. My kitchen floor now glows with the whiteness of having met multiple Magic Erasers (these things are like gold.. I swear), and dishes are also nicely taken care of (thanks parents). My room is finally completely unpacked.. that only took a week or so.. haha<br /><br />Basically, I'm home to stay. The room mates are fantastic. We laugh a lot. It might even be considered unhealthy the amount of time we spend showing each other things, talking, and laughing till tears. Our christmas paper wrapped quote fireplace is now covered with quotes.. If you ever want a laugh, or yet another reason to think I'm mildly insane, feel free to take a gander. <br /><br />So while Provo cannot be compared to London at all, I yet again realize that this kind of different is a good thing. AKA. Bring it on Change. Bring it on.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-21839042475241244082008-12-17T22:48:00.001-08:002008-12-17T22:49:08.471-08:00my life is no longer interesting.Today, I went to work. <br /><br />I have no pictures..<br /><br />I saw no celebrities..<br /><br />I think something is different.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6943035086763804265.post-71319801714465540312008-12-13T15:56:00.000-08:002008-12-13T16:32:26.988-08:00oh what a night!Late december back in sixty three... ok. well maybe not.. but mid december here in london 08, "the girl who borrows" and I went to ROYAL ALBERT HALL for a CHRISTMAS SING-A-LONG! Surprise! Not all Christmas carols are sung to the same tune. We found that out the hard way.. BUT, some are, and it was STILL AWESOME! We also went on an adventure before that included taxis (to avoid the very wet walk) and went to the one and only whole foods for dinner.
